Some people are worth melting for.

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

Olaf is a snowman who dreams of summer, and here he gives up the thing he loves most for a friend. The line states the film's idea of love in seven words: love is putting someone else first, even at a cost to yourself. It is funny coming from a character who really is melting, and it became the line fans quote on cards, mugs and wedding signs.

In Disney's Frozen (2013, directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee), Anna is dying of a frozen heart in a locked castle library while a blizzard rages outside. Olaf, the snowman Elsa made in her childhood and accidentally brought back to life, lights a fire to warm her. Anna notices he is melting beside the flames and frets over him, and Olaf waves her worry away, saying she is worth melting for. Moments later he spots Kristoff racing back toward Arendelle, and Anna sets out to meet him.
