Good Enough Mothers, ch. 3  ·  1993

Melinda M. Marshall

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

Motherhood is described as requiring something closer to judgment and creativity than a fixed technical method. The reference to its many forms resists a single formula. The comparison values responsiveness to particular circumstances without claiming that knowledge or practical guidance has no place in raising children.
