Wildcard, bitches! Yeehaw!

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

Charlie's whole character in one jump: the member nobody can predict, finally given a role and playing it with total commitment, even at the cost of everyone's safety. The cry came out of nowhere and the Yeehaw made it instantly quotable. Fans use it for any moment of cheerful sabotage or when a chaotic friend does something no one planned.

Spoilers for It's Always Sunny in PhiladelphiaShow the scene

The scream comes at the end of "The Gang Solves the Gas Crisis" (FX, 18 September 2008, written by Charlie Day, Sonny Lee and Patrick Walsh), the second episode of season four. Earlier Mac assigns everyone a role: Dennis is the looks, Mac the brains and Charlie the wildcard. Later, as the gang drives a van to Bruce Mathis's apartment to frame him, Mac finds the brakes are dead. Charlie yells that he cut them, shouts the line, kicks open the back door and leaps out. The rest of the gang bail out too, and the van, loaded with gasoline, hits a car and explodes.
