Can I offer you a nice egg in this trying time?

What it means

Our interpretation.

Frank's idea of comfort is a single egg, offered with the grave courtesy of a funeral director, and the mismatch is the joke: the gang's worst impulses wrapped in formal sympathy. It became a favourite quote precisely because it is so specific and so random. Fans use it as a deadpan line for any bad moment, usually followed by an actual egg.
