Shulk

I'm really feeling it!

— Xenoblade Chronicles  ·  2010

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

The line carries Shulk's hallmark: an earnest, slightly goofy confidence that the Monado's visions are going his way. It is the sound of a hero who is plainly enjoying himself in a fight, which is why it travelled with him from the Wii game into Smash Bros. and why fans of Howden's voice work spot it in other games.

Spoilers for Xenoblade ChroniclesShow the scene

Shulk, the Monado-wielding hero of Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii, 2010), says 'I'm really feeling it!' as a battle quote, and the Xenoblade Wiki lists a version where Reyn answers him with an encouraging shout to get stuck in. The English voice is Adam Howden. Shulk keeps the same line when he joins Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U (2014), where his voice clips include it beside 'Now it's Shulk time!'. A Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga NPC voiced by Howden even says a variation as a nod.
