Reyn

Now it's Reyn time!

— Xenoblade Chronicles · 2010

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

It is the sound of a party's big friend announcing that he is about to hold the line, said with total confidence and a slight hint of showing off. The phrase caught on because it is so exactly Reyn: loud, loyal, and a little ridiculous, and the wiki counts it among the game's battle quotes that became memes.

Reyn Time is the battle cry of Reyn, Shulk's hulking childhood friend and a Colony 9 Defence Force soldier in Xenoblade Chronicles, first released in Japan on 10 June 2010. In English, the party member shouts the longer form 'Now it's Reyn time!' as a combat quote when a fight begins, and 'Yeah! Reyn time!' when he joins a chain attack. Reyn is the party's tank, who draws enemy aggro with Mad Taunt and shrugs off hits in heavy armour. The Xenoblade Wiki records the shout and two other Reyn quotes as having become internet memes.
