Yahaha! You found me!

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

The giggle is the sound of the game's gentlest reward: a ridiculous little creature caught out by your curiosity, with no fight and no fanfare beyond that laugh and a jingle. Players have heard it hundreds of times, which is why the line became shorthand for exploration itself, and why "yahaha" is how fans write the sound in memes about checking every strange rock and stump on the map.

Spoilers for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the WildShow the scene

In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Nintendo, 2017) Koroks are small wooden forest people hidden across Hyrule. Each one hides behind a puzzle, such as a lifted rock, a ring of stones or a flower to reach, and when Link solves it the Korok pops out and cries its giggling "Ya-ha-ha! You found me!" It rewards him with a Korok Seed. Link can trade the seeds to Hestu to expand his weapon, bow and shield slots, and if he returns all 900 the reward is Hestu's Gift, which the game describes as smelling pretty bad.
