The truth is, that in London it is always a sickly season. Nobody is healthy in London, nobody can be.
Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
The speaker claims London is perpetually unhealthy, with no time of year when illness lets up. Nobody there can stay well, they say. It is a sweeping, exaggerated opinion about the city, presented as plain truth by the speaker rather than established fact.
