Individual commitment to a group effort -- that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work.
Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
A group's success is traced back to each person's willingness to contribute. The list grows from a team to a whole civilization, applying the same idea at every scale. Shared work depends, in this view, on people choosing to commit themselves to it.
