Explosion!

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

For Megumin, one enormous spell is a way of life: she has chosen Explosion over every more useful skill, and the shout is her whole personality in a word. The joke of a party member who nukes one target and then drops is KonoSuba's engine, and fans quote the cry as a gleeful declaration whenever something deserves to be blown up for style.

Spoilers for KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World!Show the scene

In KonoSuba's second episode, "An Explosion for This Chuunibyou!" (20 January 2016), Kazuma and Aqua meet Megumin, an arch wizard with a flair for theatrical chants, while hunting Giant Toads outside Axel. After Aqua is swallowed by a toad, Megumin performs the chants for her Explosion magic and reduces a distant toad to a smoking crater. The blast wakes another toad, and because she has spent everything on one spell, Megumin can't avoid being eaten. Kazuma has to rescue both girls. Afterwards she explains that she can cast only one Explosion a day before collapsing.
