What it means

Our interpretation.

The friendly words on the Guide’s cover offer a small piece of reassurance in a universe that rarely feels manageable. Arthur Dent has lost the world he knew and is travelling with someone who understands far more than he does. Two words turn a vast emergency into a first step: get enough composure to work out what comes next. The attribution records the fictional book’s inscription, rather than assigning its words to one speaker.
