Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
Geronimo is the sound of this Doctor deciding to jump first and think later, a scruffy, boyish counterpart to his predecessor's "Allons-y". Its shape is borrowed from the old paratroopers' cry. In Doctor Who it marks any leap of faith, and "The Day of the Doctor" lets the two catchphrases collide for comedy, to the War Doctor's irritation.

The Eleventh Doctor's battle cry, shouted before he leaps into danger. It is heard from his first full episode, "The Eleventh Hour" (2010): newly regenerated, the Doctor tells young Amelia Pond his TARDIS is a time machine and that he must take a five-minute trip to start repairs, then yells "Geronimo!" and jumps back inside. The Tardis wiki also lists it in "The End of Time" and "The Beast Below", and notes the Twelfth Doctor used it once, in "Deep Breath".
