Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
Sex Bob-omb are not very good, and the line announces that cheerfully: a name shouted like a dare before the noise begins. Kim's flat fury makes it funnier, and it became the series' war cry. The film made it louder still, with Beck's song built around it, and fans shout it at conventions and at any count-in.

Spoilers for Scott PilgrimShow the scene
Kim Pine is the deadpan drummer of Sex Bob-omb, the Toronto band in Bryan Lee O'Malley's Scott Pilgrim comics, which began in 2004. At gigs and rehearsals she counts the band in by shouting its name, then the count, a catchphrase she varies. In the 2010 film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Alison Pill's Kim cuts off Stephen Stills's explanation of the song's title with the shout and the count. The band crashes into the song, written for the film by Beck, and Knives Chau falls for them.
