Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
Short, bossy and a little ridiculous: a god ordering a corpse to get to work. Because the Genesis shipped with the game in the box, a generation of players met it before almost anything else on the console, and it stuck as the shout for waking up, starting over or making a grand, absurd entrance.

Spoilers for Altered BeastShow the scene
Altered Beast (Sega, arcade 1988) opens with Zeus, king of the Olympians, calling a fallen Roman centurion back from the dead to save his daughter Athena from the demon lord Neff in an ancient-Greek underworld. This command is the game's famous opening, and the brawl begins from it: collect three spirit orbs in a level and the hero turns into a werewolf or one of the other mythical beasts. The game was ported to the Sega Genesis, where it was the pack-in game when the console launched in North America in 1989.
