Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
Chief’s picture motto redirects a wish for an easier life towards developing one’s own abilities. Its compact contrast makes improvement an active response to difficulty. This entry identifies its fictional use in New Leaf; the game’s original release was in 2012 and its English release followed in 2013, without claiming the older maxim originated in the game.
