Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
The line is a tiny sportsmanship ritual: three words that say you saw the play and respect it, from a stranger you will never talk to again. Rocket League players are known for the chat-spam that follows (the same preset hammered over and over, and the sarcastic overuse of it after a clumsy own-goal), so the phrase now doubles as both sincere praise and a joke about the game's wordless community.

Spoilers for Rocket LeagueShow the scene
Rocket League (Psyonix, 2015) is vehicular soccer: rocket-powered cars hit a giant ball in matches of about five minutes, with sudden-death overtime if the score is level. Because most players are strangers on voice-less teams, the game gives them Quick Chat, a menu of preset messages reached by a single button press and sorted into groups for information, compliments, reactions and apologies. "What a save!" is one of the stock compliments a player fires at a teammate, or an opponent, after a last-second block in front of the goal.
