Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
It is Sonic's impatience in three words, the character's whole personality: a hedgehog who hates standing still. The game scolds you for waiting by having him say it, and fans quote it as a way to leave a room. Sonic Adventure 2 has him say nearly the same words in its intro, so the attitude became part of the character.

Spoilers for Sonic CDShow the scene
The line is one of only two voiced phrases Sonic has in Sonic the Hedgehog CD (Sega CD, 1993), the first mainline Sonic game with voice acting. If the player leaves the controller untouched for three minutes, Sonic gives up waiting and says it. His other spoken line is a cheer when the player collects an extra life. His voice is Masato Nishimura, and Sonic Retro's audio listing names the clip as the third voice sample. Sonic Origins removed the voice lines when the game was rereleased in 2022.
