Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
A cheerful euphemism that let a family-rated life simulator include sex without showing any of it: the word does all the work, and the giggle is built in. Players took it out of the game with them, so for a generation of Sims fans 'woohoo' is simply what the act is called, and the line is shorthand for the series' knowing, PG-13 sense of humour.

WooHoo is The Sims' own word for sex: the interaction two Sims can pick once their relationship is close enough. The idea arrived with The Sims: Livin' Large (2000), whose Vibromatic Heart Bed let a couple in love vibrate the bed and then "Play" in it, the first intimacy in the series. The Sims 2 (2004) gave the act its name and let Sims WooHoo in beds and, later, in elevators and hot tubs. Nothing is ever shown: the covers stay up and the camera stays out. In The Sims 4 (2014) WooHoo sits in the romance menu beside Try for Baby, the option that can actually lead to a pregnancy.
