Bianca's whole character in one comparison: affection is cheap, desire is what counts, and the proof is a designer bag. The joke lands because Chastity has no comeback, which is how the film shows who runs the friendship. Fans still quote it as a deadpan way to rank anything they merely like against something they covet, and it dates the film to the late-1990s teen-comedy mall culture it came from.

At Padua High School, the Seattle-area setting of the 1999 teen comedy, sophomore Bianca Stratford explains her priorities to her best friend Chastity Church. Bianca separates liking from loving, and the example she picks is a pair of Skechers against a Prada backpack. Chastity, who loves her Skechers, protests; Bianca tells her that is only because she has never owned the backpack, and Chastity gives in with a small "Oh." The exchange sets up Bianca as the vain, status-minded sister in a story loosely based on Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew, in which Bianca is also the sought-after younger sister.
