Don't try and fool me no more, Ennis; I know what it means! Jack Twist. Jack Nasty! You didn't go up there to fish!

What it means
Our interpretation.
Alma confronts Ennis, claiming she already understands the real reason behind his trips away. She names Jack Twist mockingly, twisting his name into a jeering insult. Her accusation suggests fishing was never, in her view, the true reason for going.
