You cannot leave everything to Fate, boy. She's got a lot to do. Sometimes you must give her a hand.

Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
The speaker advises a young listener not to sit back and wait for destiny, picturing Fate as busy and overworked. Good outcomes sometimes need a person's own push, so one should step in and help chance along rather than expecting everything to arrive unaided.
