Our reading
An editorial interpretation.
Hagrid arrives at the isolated hut with a birthday cake and news that changes Harry’s understanding of himself. The boy who has been treated as an unwanted burden discovers that he belongs to a much larger world. The warmth of the announcement matters as much as the magic: someone finally sees something worth celebrating in him. This line follows the first film, also released as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
