Big tim, the human piece of toast.
— Jurassic Park • 1993
Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
A throwaway joke at the end of the most frightening stretch of the film: Tim was just killed and brought back by a fence, and what comes out is a gag about his hair. It is the film's gentle way of letting the audience, and the kids, laugh before the raptors arrive. Fans quote it as the nickname for anyone with wild hair, and the LEGO game made it a trophy name.

Spoilers for Jurassic ParkShow the scene
After Tim Murphy is electrocuted climbing an electric fence, Grant revives him with CPR and gets the children back to the visitor centre. Before he goes to find the others, he tells Lex to look after her brother. A teasing line follows about Tim's hair sticking up and him being the human piece of toast, and Grant promises to be back soon. The joke breaks the tension for a moment before the raptors reach the kitchen.
