I wanted to write that my work consists of two parts: of the one which is here, and of everything which I have not written. And precisely this second part is the important one.

The speaker divides the work into what is written and what remains unwritten, then gives priority to the absent part. That reversal makes silence or omission meaningful. It suggests that the visible text points beyond itself, while leaving the content of that larger absence unstated.
