The two most famous lines on this page are both provenance problems: 'Be the change you wish to see in the world' appears nowhere in Gandhi's roughly one hundred volumes of collected works (his documented 1913 version is longer and less slogan-shaped), and 'An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind' has no located source in his writings either. Both survive because they compress what he genuinely argued at length. Few historical figures are better documented -- which is exactly how researchers can say the slogans are not there.
