What it means

Our interpretation.

Every Zanpakuto in Bleach is woken by a spoken command, and Byakuya's is the elegant one: a quiet, courteous order that turns a katana into a storm of pink blade petals. It sums up the noble captain, cold and perfectly controlled. Fans use the line to announce an overwhelming flourish, and the cherry-blossom blades are among the series' most copied images.

Spoilers for BleachShow the scene

"Scatter" (Japanese: chire) is the release command for Byakuya Kuchiki's Zanpakuto, Senbonzakura. Spoken to the blade, it breaks the sword into a thousand tiny petal-like blades that Byakuya steers by slashing in the air. He releases it against Ganju Shiba in Soul Society (chapter 116) and again on Sokyoku Hill, when he promises Ichigo that he will not need his Bankai for a thousand years (chapter 160). Ichigo answers with a Getsuga Tensho that cuts through the whole swarm.
