Hamlet · 1602
Madness in great ones must not unwatched go.
Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
The line warns that unsoundness of mind in powerful people cannot be left unobserved. When someone of high standing shows signs of madness, the risk to everyone else is large enough to demand close watching, not polite silence.
