After a while the middle-aged person who lives in her head begins to talk to her soul, the kid.

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

The speaker imagines an adult's mature, rational inner voice eventually turning to speak with the childlike core of the self. The 'middle-aged person' in the head and the 'soul, the kid' become two parts of one person, and the line suggests that conversation happens gradually, after some time has passed.
