Oathbringer · 2017
Sometimes a hypocrite is nothing more than a man who is in the process of changing.
Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
The answer leaves room for a gap between a person’s ideals and their current actions without excusing that gap. The difference lies in whether the person is doing the work of changing.

In Oathbringer chapter 103, Dalinar calls himself a hypocrite during a dream encounter with Nohadon. Nohadon answers with this more generous possibility, and Dalinar recognises an idea he has expressed himself. The card follows the fuller “man who is” wording quoted in Wikiquote and the chapter reread, rather than the shortened quotation-list form.
