Words of Radiance · 2014
Would you like to destroy some evil today?
Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
The friendly question is unsettling because the weapon’s certainty exceeds its understanding of evil. Szeth is offered a purpose that may be as dangerous as the obedience he is leaving behind.

Spoilers for Words of RadianceShow the scene
At the end of Words of Radiance, Nale gives Szeth a sword that cheerfully asks about destroying evil. The greeting arrives in chapter 88 and introduces Nightblood to this part of the Cosmere. The sword first appeared in Warbreaker, but this particular page credits its Words of Radiance encounter with Szeth.
