Handle's my middle name. Well, actually, it's the middle part of my first name.

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

The joke is the correction. Chandler delivers a jaunty one-liner, then undercuts it with a pedantic footnote about his own name, a classic Chandler move: set up the cool line, immediately trip over it. People use it as a cheerful brush-off whenever someone says they can't handle something, usually with the correction attached.

Spoilers for FriendsShow the scene

In 'The One Without the Ski Trip' (Friends, season 3, 1997), the gang's weekend at a cabin is at risk because Ross and Rachel, who have split up, keep fighting about whether they were on a break. Ross has come out to help and they quarrel again in the cold. Monica asks Rachel whether Ross might join the trip. Joey says he cannot handle the arguing, and Chandler steps in with this line.
