To give the Covenant back their bomb.
— Halo 2 · 2004
Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
Chief answers a formal request for his purpose with a compact statement of intent. Returning the Covenant's bomb means turning an immediate threat back against its makers. The calm response makes an extraordinary plan sound like a task he has already decided he can complete.
