All I want to do is graduate from high school, go to Europe, marry Christian Slater and die!
— Buffy the Vampire Slayer • 1992
Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
Graduating, going to Europe and marrying Christian Slater are gathered into one account of what the speaker wants from life. The final mention of dying stretches the list into a whole imagined future. All I want frames that elaborate wish as a simple request, creating the contrast.
