Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

A character who only says three words gets a whole film's worth of feeling out of changing one of them. 'I am Groot' has been his sentence all film; 'We are' makes it a promise to the family he found. It is the emotional peak of the first movie, and the answer fans give to any question of loyalty.
