Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
A barrage of insulting labels turns a wedding announcement into exaggerated gossip. The final claim that Martha Stewart is furious shifts the scale again, attaching celebrity outrage to the personal disclosure. Read as caricature, the passage exposes the noisy spectacle that the speaker makes of someone's coming out.
