Who run Bartertown?
— Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome ‧ 1985
Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
The shout is a power play in four words: a man small enough to be carried is making the town's ruler say, in public, who really holds the lever. Fans quote it as a challenge to any boss, and as a joke about whoever actually controls the thing everyone needs.

Spoilers for Mad Max Beyond ThunderdomeShow the scene
In Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985), Bartertown's power comes from Underworld, a refinery that turns pig dung into methane and is run by Master, a dwarf who rides on the shoulders of his giant bodyguard Blaster. When Aunty Entity ignores their wishes, Master orders the embargo on and shuts the main valve, cutting off the town's power. Aunty comes on the speaker and demands to know what now, and Master calls his challenge to her. She is forced to answer, and say aloud, that MasterBlaster runs Bartertown.
