Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
It is Tony Montana's last stand compressed into a toast: a man who has lost everything announces his weapon with a showman's grin before going out in a blaze. Fans quote it whenever something big, loud or overpowered is about to be wheeled in. AFI ranked it 61st among movie quotes, and the film's swagger shaped a generation of hip-hop and video games.

Scarface (1983, directed by Brian De Palma from an Oliver Stone script) ends with the fall of Cuban refugee turned Miami drug lord Tony Montana. Holed up in his mansion, high on cocaine, with his friend Manny and his sister Gina both dead, he faces a squad of hitmen sent by his Bolivian supplier Sosa. Tony takes a rifle with an under-barrel grenade launcher out to meet the invaders and taunts them as he fires. He kills many before an assassin shoots him in the back and he falls from the balcony into the pool below the 'The World Is Yours' globe.
