To be an anarchist in Salt Lake City was certainly no easy task, especially in 1985. And having no money, no job, no plans for the future, the true anarchist position, was in itself a strenuous job.

Claiming an anarchist identity turns out to demand real effort, especially with no money or backup plans. The irony sits in calling deliberate uncertainty a job in itself. It's a wry admission that rejecting structure still takes its own discipline.
