Forget it, Doug. Even with a swollen nose, I can still smell a rat.
— The Brady Bunch Movie · 1995
Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
Even with a swollen nose, the speaker says their instinct for detecting trouble still works. 'Smell a rat' means sensing something fishy, and the line plays on the literal nose problem. Doug is told to drop the matter because the suspicion remains sharp and unshaken.
