What time is it? Adventure Time!

Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
It is the show's cheer, a kid's answer to a question every adult is meant to ask: when someone says it is time to do something brave and daft, the answer is always adventure. Fans use it as a rallying cry before any trip or project, and it stuck as shorthand for the show itself, in part because it started the whole thing in the first short.

Spoilers for Adventure TimeShow the scene
The call and response comes from the original Adventure Time short, which aired on 11 January 2007 on Frederator's Random! Cartoons and went viral. Pen (the early Finn) and Jake are on their way to rescue Princess Bubblegum from the Ice King. Pen puts on a sweater and gives Jake his booties, then asks the question and Jake answers with him. They jump into the Ice Kingdom and ride a mountain of penguins down the slope. The series' own theme song, which arrived in 2010, opens differently.
