Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
It is the line that tells a first-time viewer that Dolores is not seeing what we see, and its repetition makes denial a character trait. Fans use it for anyone who looks straight at something they are not allowed to understand.

Spoilers for WestworldShow the scene
Westworld, season 1, episode 1, 'The Original' (2016). Back at the Abernathy ranch at sundown, Peter Abernathy has dug a modern photograph of a young woman in a city out of the dirt. Dolores, home for the evening, greets him and says she told him she'd be home before dark. He shows her the picture; she shrugs and says it doesn't look like anything to me, then repeats it when he asks where the woman is and whether she has ever seen a place like this.
