This is the choice of Steins Gate.

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

A line that begins as pure Hououin Kyouma bluster and ends as the show's most sincere sentence. The same words cover Okabe's first theatrical shrug and his final act of faith, which is why it sticks: a joke catchphrase turned into a vow. Fans quote it for the moment Okabe stops pretending it means nothing.

Spoilers for Steins;GateShow the scene

Rintaro Okabe's catchphrase, so there is no single scene. From the first episode he uses it as a mad-scientist flourish for whatever happens; the show's glossary notes that it doesn't really mean anything and riffs on an internet meme. It pays off in the final episode, 24. Kurisu Makise has been saved but has no memory of him. Okabe passes her in the street, calls her "Christina" to wake her memories, holds out a lab member's pin, and thinks that space-time is infinite and will always try to do the right thing: that is the true choice of Steins Gate.
