Winnie the Pooh · 1926
It's snowing still. And freezing. However, we haven't had an earthquake lately.

What it means
Our interpretation.
Eeyore finds consolation by comparing unpleasant weather with a disaster that has not occurred. The reassuring turn is so disproportionate that it hardly sounds cheerful. Snow and cold remain unchanged; only the standard for calling the situation tolerable has been lowered.
