In a dark cave lit by a lantern, Father Noel Furlong in a red jumper over his collar writes in a notepad with wounded dignity among a slumped, bored youth group, as Ted and Dougal arrive with a torch behind.

Father Noel Furlong

Tony, I'm putting you on my list of enemies.

— Father Ted  ·  1995

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

Noel is a bully who hides behind jollity, and the line is a threat said in a cheery voice, with a notepad for proof. People use it as a mock-menacing way to put a friend on notice, especially when the notepad bit is added.
