The StarCraft (1998) cheat code for invincibility
Power overwhelming.
— StarCraft ‧ 1998
Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
The Protoss, a race that believes in overwhelming force, gave their cheat a suitably smug name. Typing it before a mission turned a hard campaign level into a stroll, and a generation remembers the guilty joy of doing it. It later lent its name to a Hearthstone warlock spell, and it still works as a way to describe winning by an unfair margin.

Power overwhelming is a cheat code in StarCraft's single-player mode. The player opens the chat box and types the phrase; if entered correctly, a 'Cheat enabled' message appears. It switches on god mode: computer opponents deal no damage, though shields can still be drained, and entering the phrase again toggles it off. The words also happen to be one of the Protoss archon's own unit responses, which explains the choice of code.
