Game message

You must construct additional pylons.

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

It is a game's way of telling you that you did something wrong, yet it became affectionate because everybody hits it, and the advice is always the same. The solemn Protoss voice makes a mundane supply error sound like prophecy. Players use it for anything that needs the obvious next step, and it is a rallying cry that outgrew the game.

Spoilers for StarCraftShow the scene

In the original StarCraft (1998), every Protoss unit uses up psi, the supply a player's pylons provide. When the player tries to train a unit without enough psi, the game plays an error message from the Protoss advisor: this line. Each pylon the Protoss build gives eight supply, so the fix is simply to build another pylon. The StarCraft wiki notes that Blizzard employees themselves have used the phrase for comic effect, and the error became the franchise's best-known piece of game feedback.
