M'aiq is tired now. Go bother somebody else.

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

A character who seems designed to reward curiosity finally puts a limit on it. M'aiq's blunt exhaustion punctures the player's assumption that another question must produce another secret. It also makes the wandering commentator feel like someone with a life beyond supplying entertainment.

Spoilers for The Elder Scrolls V: SkyrimShow the scene

M'aiq the Liar ends a run of conversation this way in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (2011). After giving three of his remarks, the wandering Khajiit stops offering fresh observations and asks the persistent player to leave him alone. The refusal is part of repeated roadside encounters, not the ending of a quest.
