Bandit

Never should have come here!

— The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim  ·  2011

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

The enemy announces the outcome before finding out who has arrived. That certainty is threatening early in an adventure and funny later, when the player may be far stronger than the speaker. Repetition turns a stock warning into a recurring test of misplaced confidence.

Spoilers for The Elder Scrolls V: SkyrimShow the scene

Bandits use this combat taunt in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (2011). The dialogue accompanies hostile encounters in the wilderness and in occupied forts and caves, rather than identifying one named bandit's story. Its confidence can sit awkwardly beside the actual balance of power once an experienced Dragonborn returns to familiar roads.
