Skyrim Guard

No lollygaggin'.

— The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim • 2011

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

The official concern is comically small beside the player's dragons and prophecies. A guard who has nothing urgent to investigate can still police the pace of a passer-by. The old-fashioned word makes the routine order sound both fussy and oddly companionable.

This is one of the guards' ordinary passing remarks in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (2011). Unlike warnings tied to a quest, bounty or faction, the guard-dialogue reference lists no special requirement for it. The player can hear a local official telling them to stop dawdling during an otherwise uneventful walk through a hold.
