Hi , I'm Looking for Ray Finkle...and a clean pair of shorts.

Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
The introduction combines a search for a person with a sudden request for replacement clothing. The added need interrupts the ordinary business of asking for directions. Its comic effect lies in that unexpected personal detail, while the excerpt does not explain what happened to the original shorts.
